My name is John Jones. I have lived and worked in the Washington, DC area for the past 20 years. In that time I have watched the constant parade of protests that inevitably concentrate in and around America's seat of power. These are at times large mass marches, with as many as a million participants, that become huge media events, or they can be an individual with a cause that has moved them to action, or even a guerilla campaign waged by posts and tags. Regardless the scale, in some way, a protest is going on here every day. The Daily Protest Blog is my attempt to pictorially represent these protests as they move through the contemporary cultural and political landscape.

The images presented here are meant to reflect in some way the individuals who make a choice to act on their convictions, how those convictions are acted out and, to some extent, the nature of protest itself. It is not meant as reportage or advocacy of any particular event, nor is it meant to promote or enable any persons or specific points of view. In line with this, I will not respond to requests to cover events or publish the names of participants. As a general rule, I will only provide as much information about a particular protest to give adequate context for the photograph.

While this site is meant to reflect the daily nature of protests, it will not necessarily be updated on a daily basis nor will the images always be up to date. I will try to feed the site as often as possible within the constraints of my life; work, family, etc., but those constraints will inevitably limit the time I will have to devote to this project.
