A solitary protester on the National Mall near the Capital hands out leaflets protesting China's persecution of Falun Gong participants. I have seen her here many times as she rushes to pass pamphlets to people on there way to visit America's cultural icons. In this lofty space, her issue seems worlds away and the leaflets are often discarded soon after they are received.

"I've been here for three months but I'm going to be leaving soon." this protester said standing on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House. "The clutch is going on my car and I want to leave while I still have the option." "It's good to have options," he added, "When you're dead, you don't have any."
